GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING THE EXPORTATION OF AUTOMOBILES FROM THE U.S.A.

  1. Per requirements of the carrier, you can not place anything except a spare tire and jack in or on the vehicle.  Vehicles must not have more than ¼ tank of gasoline.
  2. To clear U.S. Customs, you or your agent will need one of the following:
    1. Original title, along with 6 copies- OR
    2. If you have a lien on your vehicle you will need an original letter from the lien holder authorizing export overseas.  In addition, if the lien holder holds the title, this letter must state that they, as the lien holder, also hold the title.  They must at least furnish you with a copy of the title.
  3. The piers close their gates at 3pm and are open Monday through Friday.  No weekend deliveries.  Please get to our office by 2pm, the latest.  The piers are closed from 11:30am through 1pm for lunch.
  4. Power of attorney’s must be signed by the owner and witnessed.  They do NOT have to be notarized.
  5. Sailing dates and arrival dates are estimated and are subject to change without notice.  Dates are furnished based on information furnished to us by the carrier.
  6. Charges are based on manufacture’s specification or details on measurement provided by the shipper.  Any change in these dimensions will result in a change in the cost.  Please be sure to inform us of any roof racks, oversized tires, or any alteration that changes the dimension of the unit.
  7. You will be assessed port fees at destination.  These charges will be payable direct to the port.  Also depending upon your status, you may be subject to duties and taxes in the country of destination.  Please check with the embassy closest to you prior to export to ascertain applicable duty rates, etc.
  8. If your vehicle is damaged in transit, it is imperative that when picking up your vehicle you notate any damages prior to signing off.  Otherwise, we can not assist you in filing a claim.  You do have the potion to purchase marine insurance from us.  Please ask for current rate.
  9. Telephone numbers at the port of discharge are available upon request.  It is recommended that you contact the agent three to five working days prior to estimated time of arrival to avoid any unnecessary expenses.
  10. After your vehicle has been delivered to the loading port, please remove your license tags from your vehicle and take them with you.
  11. Your title will be returned to you via regular mail should it be returned to us by the port authorities.  If you require us to courier the title, or any other documentation to you, we will assess courier charges of approximately $50.00 depending upon destination.
  12. We or agents will not be responsible for any mechanical failures or breakdowns.  If your vehicle has a problem that you are aware of, we suggest you have it repaired prior to delivery.
  13. If your country of destination requires any pre-inspection, import permits, or any pre-clearance, we do not get involved in this service.  It is your responsibility to arrange this yourself.  We will advise you of any requirements if we are aware of them.
  14. For motor homes, propane tanks must be empty.  There should be no more than a ¼ tank of gasoline in the unit.
